Canadian restricted firearms safety course. (Youth participation update)

Good news!. Up until very recently only people over the age of 18 could take part in the Canadian restricted firearms safety course. Now for the purpose of education a youth over 12 years of age who successfully passes the non restricted safety course can attend the restricted firearms safety course with their parents or legal guardian. A person MUST still be 18 years of age to apply for a restricted PAL. So that means that they will have to attend the course & pass the test again when they are 18.
However this has been a recent and major change to the system. This change is long overdue and the most proactive firearms safety measure implemented in the last 25 years in Canada. This is a step in the safe (right) direction. It supports firearms safety from the restricted standpoint and will greatly expand the safety aspect of restricted firearms ownership for adults and youth.
Any adult now taking the Canadian restricted firearms safety course can bring youth over 12 years of age to join them in the course as a FREE FYI educational session. However the youth MUST have passed the non restricted course. If you are signing up to take the restricted firearms safety course class with firing line and you have youth family members who have taken and taken and passed the non restricted course please consider taking the youth between the ages of 12 and 18 along with you as an educational session. They can also take the written or practical test however the results are not recorded. It is great educational information. Best part is the safety information is free!. Firingline will not charge parents any fees for youth member to sit in on the course. When you attend the restricted firearms safety course you can bring the youth members of your family at absolutely no charge to you. Here at firing line we could not be more pleased with this recent announcement and we will do our best to assist our students any way we can. If you have any other questions or require more details on this matter please feel free to call or email us directly for more information. We hope to see you and your youth family members in class with us soon. Please see the highlights below.
